NAILS OF THE WEEK

NYC Lights Camera Glitter
Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blueberry

As I'm sure you're aware, I have a love (more of an obsession really) with nail polish, my collection is unbelievable! I've been getting really bored with just block coloured nails lately so I decided to jazz them up a little!
I simply started with Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine in Blueberry, which by itself is a beautiful colour don't get me wrong but let's be honest it's just a blue nail varnish. When I was in Superdrug the other day I couldn't resist picking up this NYC Lights Camera Glitter nail varnish!
It's basically a clear nail varnish with sprinkles of silver glitter and a few hexagon shaped holographic blue and lilac glitter thingys- great description I know!
It's so pretty and glittery and girly and I just love it! I would say it takes about two to three coats (depending on how much glitter you want) to properly see the glitter. One thing I adore about this nail varnish is that it doesn't chip and when you apply it, it has like a top coat kind of finish.

The only issue I have with the NYC Lights Camera Glitter is it is a PAIN in the backside to remove! I had mine removed by the technician in the nail shop because I was getting my infills and even he struggled so unless you're happy to scrub it off with plenty of remover then I wouldn't advise it! Buttttttt then again, that isn't going to stop me wearing it!

Have you tried any NYC nail varnishes? Would you recommend any other glitter nail varnishes?

WOULD YOU RATHER? BEAUTY TAG

Image from weheartit.com, edited by myself using picmonkey.

I was browsing different blogs the other day and I came across Jade's blog You Look Nice Today and I had noticed she had done the Would you rather? Beauty Tag so I decided to jump on board! Enjoy!

Would you rather lose all of your mascaras, eyeliners, lipsticks, and lipglosses or lose all of your palettes and eyeshadows?
Without a doubt, I would rather lose my palettes and eyeshadows. Mascara can automatically change my face from dull and boring to 'oh hey she doesn't look so dead today' and I'm definitely more of a lippy kind of girl than eyeshadows anyways.

Would you rather chop off all your hair or never be able to cut it again?
I have infact recently had my hair chopped off into a bob, and as much as I love it I want my long hair back! So I'm going to have to say never be able to cut it again, I have too much of a funny shaped head to have no hair (sorry if this sounds really superficial)

Would you rather have a coral cheek or a pink cheek?
I'm very pale and I find that pink blushes and lipsticks just don't compliment my skin. I'm a massive fan of the Sleek blush in Suede and the new shade called Rotonde from Pierre Hardy for Nars is just beautiful, so I think that answers itself! Coral cheek all the way!

If you had £1000 to spend, Would you rather buy clothes or makeup?
Despite my love for beauty, and only really blogging about beauty products, my wardrobe is in a desperate need of revamping, and when I say desperate I mean desperate! I would rather buy clothes especially because I have eyes on so many nice items at the moment! Roll on payday!

Would you rather apply lipstick as eyeliner, or eyeliner as lipstick?

Lipstick as eyeliner? Did I just read that right? A big huge massive no no, eyeliner as lipstick is definitely the answer for this question. To be fair, you can buy some really pretty eyeliner shades that would be nice used as lipstick.

Would you rather only shop at MAC or Sephora?
We don't have Sephora in the UK so I've never had the privilege of trying any of their products, and I absolutely adore MAC products so it has got to be MAC!

Would you rather only use one eyeshadow color or one lip color for the rest of your life?
I kind of answered this question in the first one, I'd rather use one eyeshadow colour. I'm usually minimal eyes with bright lips kind of girl anyways and to have only one lip colour for the rest of my life would be a disaster!

Would you rather wear winter clothes in summer or summer clothes in winter?

I've never really had to think about a question like this, but I would say winter clothes in summer. I have anemia (low iron levels) so I'm pretty much always cold so it seems only logical to go with this answer.

Would you rather dark nails or bright nails all year round?
This is a difficult one for me! I always wear acrylics so I alwaaaaays have my nails painted, dark and bright shades. No matter how much I think that dark nails suit me more than bright shades, I'm going to say bright. Nothing is quite more in your face than a neon Models Own!

Would you rather give up your favorite lip product or your favorite eye product?
I'm so loving Benefit's They're Real mascara at the moment and there is no way in any shape or form I'd give that up for my favourite lip product (which is Rimmel's Apocalips). Sorry Rimmel!

Would you rather only be able to wear your hair in a pony tail or a messy bun?

Unfortunately my hair is too short to do either of these, I usually just push it back into a low bun/knot when I'm not in the mood of styling my hair. Going on when my hair was long, I loved to have it in a sleek ponytail, so there's your answer!

Would your rather never being able to paint your nails again or never use lipgloss?
I'm not a fan of lipgloss anyways and never use it so it would be bye bye lipgloss!

Would you rather shave your eyebrows and have none at all? or sharpie them in everyday?
As long as they were a nice shape, not 'catepillar' eyebrows and a decent shade to match my hair, I'd happily sharpie them in any day!

Would you rather live without makeup or nail polish?
I've dreaded this question all tag! I always have my nails painted, but then again I'm never seen without makeup. Never. So I guess I would rather live without nail polish, as much as it hurts to say that!

So that's it! Have you done this tag? If so leave a link in the comments below.

OREO MILKSHAKE RECIPE

My milkshake brings all the boys to my yard and they're like it's better than yourssssss (Okay I lied, this milkshake will probably not bring any boys to your yard but it tastes pretty amazing if I do say myself so who needs the boys, right?)
One thing I can't fib about is how easy this is to make and this recipe serves about 3-4 people!

What you will need:
12 Oreo Cookies
2 Pints of milk (I used semi-skimmed)
As much ice cream as you like - I would recommend using about a quarter of 2L tub of vanilla ice cream
A blender to mix it all together

As you can tell by what you need, it's very simple! So step one. Blend all the oreos up in the blender until they create a dust/crumbly mixture. Step two. Add the milk and blend together. Step three. The final step is to add the ice cream and surprise surprise blend it together.
Pour into glass, add a straw (if you want) and enjoy! Easy peasy!

BEWARE: This is a very sweet and sickly milkshake

A TEENY TINY SUPERDRUG HAUL

Sooooo I went into my local superdrug with my mum and because I haven't been paid yet I intended not to purchase anything. Whoops. But to be fair, I barely spent anything so I have no reason to feel guilty!
What did I pick up? Oh just a few essentials. Like I said in my May Empties post, I like to use face wipes to remove my make up and because I have combination skin (more on the dry side if I'm honest) these wipes seemed perfect so I'll let you know how good, or bad, these are in some upcoming posts. I also picked up my favourite hand cream and heat defence spray and some other bits.

I'm not a massive fan of drugstore makeup, I mean some items are complete gems and I absolutely love them but generally speaking they're obviously not as good as the high end brands, but nail varnish is an exception. There was no way I was going to walk past the NYC counter without taking advantage of the 3 for 2 offer. No way! I actually love some of the products NYC make, especially their nail polish. I picked up a glitter nail polish, which I wear would over an opaque nail varnish, called Lights Camera Glitter, a clear topcoat and a bubblegum pink nail varnish which funnily enough is called Bubblegum Pink. I am currently wearing the Lights Camera Glitter over Barry M's Gelly Hi Shine in Blueberry and I adoreeeeee it! Expect a post very soon!
The final item I bought which I think is by far the best, is Superdrug's Vitamin E All Over Body Moisturiser. I love love love love love this. I have previously used this before, loved it then and I love it now. I seriously cannot rave about this enough. Trust me ladies, whatever moisturiser you are currently using, bin it and get some of this (okay well maybe don't do that but you have to try this!) Everyone I have spoke to and all the blog posts I have read love this product, and when you try it you'll understand why. As you know I'm really funny about the smell of products but this smells great and leaves my skin silky soft. Just perfection in a tub, and for £2.99 you can't go wrong!

I hope to be reviewing some of these products very soon, so keep your eyes peeled.
Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them?

MAY EMPTIES

This month has been a budget beauty month and you can clearly see this in this post! Just going to give a quick review on these products that I have recently finished so happy reading!

The hair products:

Tresemmé Split Remedy Leave in treatment
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Paisley
Tresemmé Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment

Tresemmé Split Remedy Leave in Treatment
I really enjoyed using this product although I found that if I used it too often it would leave my hair feeling heavy and greasy. Overall I would recommend this product to all you beauty lovers out there with damaged hair but use it sparingly! To the claims of reducing the appearance of split ends by 80% after three uses; I disagree. It did reduce to appearance of my split ends, but that was after about 10-15 uses.
Rate: 6/10
Repurchase? Maybe, but I want to try other products first

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Paisley
This was in my last months favourites (check it out here) and I cannot rave about this enough. Its perfect for refreshing your hair between washes and it smells b-e-a-u-tiful
Rate: 10/10 - By far the best dry shampoo I have ever used
Repurchase? Always!

Tresemmé Platinum Strength Deep Conditioning Treatment
I must admit, I was disappointed by this product. I had read a fair few blog posts on the range and everyone really seemed to love the Deep Conditioning Treatment, I however didn't. I feel like it did nothing to my hair, left it feeling  sluggish and the smell was very off putting for me - far too sweet and sickly. It's a steal at £6 a bottle so I would suggest if you're looking for a cheap hair masque thingy to give it a go, it just wasn't for me.
Rate: 1/10
Repurchase? Sorry to say, but it's a no.

Skin Care products:

Simply Kind to Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes
Original Source Lemon and Tea Tree shower gel
Garnier Deep clean cream wash

Simply Facial Wipes
When it comes to removing my makeup, I like to use a makeup remover face wipe and then use my Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel (the worlds most amazing cleanser ever) with a hot muslin afterwards. Most wipes now days are rather dry and it takes like four billion wipes to remove one days worth of makeup - obviously I'm exaggerating but you get my drift - but these wipes are different! I found these to be very 'wet' (which is good) and quite nourishing but I would still never use them on their own for makeup removal/cleansing my face. Overall, in terms of face wipes they are the best I've used however it did take a little bit of scrubbing to remove my mascara.
Rate: 8/10
Repurchase? Yes

Original Source Lemon and Tea Tree Shower gel
I've previously mentioned Original Source shower gels in my April Favourites and I love them. Basically they're good quality shower gels at a very affordable price that smell delicious. Admittedly this one isn't my most favourite smell but I love it nonetheless! I really would recommend this shower gel for everyday use and the fact that it's so cheap is just a bonus!
Rate: 8/10
Repurchase? Not necessarily this particular one but I will be repurchasing Original Source Shower Gel, probably in the Chocolate and Mint flavour.

Garnier Deep Clean Cream Wash
I used this product on a daily basis in the morning to ensure I had a fresh face before applying my makeup and I was really impressed. It helped keep my pores clean and clear and left my skin feeling soft. The formula is really nice and I like how the product turns into a foam whilst applying it and the product also helped reduce my breakouts. I highly recommend this to all beauty lovers as it worked wonders on me.
Rate: 9/10
Repurchase? Already have!

Would you use any of these products? Can you recommend any similar products for me to try?

BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

With my 19th birthday only around the corner I've decided to put together a little wishlist. Firstly, I cannot believe I'm going to be 19 already, and to some they may not sound old at all but I just can't help but think how quick my life is flying by! I want to be a teenager forever! If you know me you will know I am always grateful for whatever I get so please don't view this post as me requesting anything, it's simply what I'm hoping to purchase with my wages/birthday money.

duo fiber collection
(I've never used this foundation so I really want to give it a go!)

As you can tell my wishlist isn't as large as some other bloggers, so I'm hoping I'll be able to purchase all of these items with the next couple of weeks so be sure to look out for a haul post!

Do you have a current wish list? Are any items similar to mine?

HEADLINE COLORS NAIL POLISH REVIEW

So in my previous blog post on the May Glossybox (see it here) I talked about being really excited to try out Headline Colours Poolside Party Nail polish. The nail varnish usually retails at £9 a bottle so it would be fair to say Glossybox were very generous this month.

I would be lying if I told I wasn't worried about trying this nail polish out, the colour seemed a little bit too bold for me, but I had nothing to worry about!

Headline Color Poolside Party in 083

As you can tell the colour stayed true to the bottle unlike some other nail polishes. I love how the shimmer in the nail polish gives it a kind of metal effect and the undertone of lilac surely made the colour pop! If I'm honest, I would have never of chose this colour myself so I'm really really really happy that I received it because it has become one of my favourite nail polishes. I really like how the colour is long lasting and the product didn't chip on my nails, but then again I find that most nail polishes don't chip on my nails because I wear acrylics.
The nail polish dried fast, which is always a bonus for me, but I felt that the colour became more subtle after a coat of topcoat. Overall I would say it's definitely a nine out of ten and I will definitely be purchasing some more of Headline Colors nail polishes very soon!

GLOSSYBOX TURNS TWO

So it seems that everyone in the beauty blogging world has been very excited for the May Glossybox, and there is no surprise considering they Glossybox turned two this month and by the sounds of their tweets and instagram photos it was going to be a special box, and it is!
My box arrived today and I was delighted to see three full sized products, two very generous samples and a Glossybox birthday treat!

The box arrived looking like any normal Glossybox but as you can tell the inside was very different!

But lets get to why you're reading this, the products!

As you can see, this box was impressive! This month contained:
Headline Colors Poolside Party nail polish in 083
Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes mascara
Awapuhi Shine Spray in Wild ginger
Roger and Gallet Fleur de Figuier sachets
Beautiful Movements Cosmetics Prime & Create Mixing Medium in sample size
Glossybox Nail files

What I'm most excited to try is the Headline Color nail polish, it's a gorgeous colour and the brief product outline in the leaflet makes it sound like a pretty good nail polish. In the whole box this month I've only previously heard of Roger and Gallet and Jelly Pong Pong. R&G are very well known, whereas Jelly Pong Pong aren't, the only time I had heard of them before was at the Clothes Show Live in 2009 when I brought a bag of makeup goodies from them! Thinking back, I was pretty impressed with the products back them, so hopefully the mascara will live up to my expectations! I'm pretty pleased most of the products in the box are by brands I haven't heard of before, you never know they may become some of my favourites!

I will be trying these products over the upcoming weeks and will be posting about them shortly!
Do you subscribe to Glossybox? Let me know what you think about the box!

THEY'RE REAL! MASCARA - GRAB IT WHILE YOU CAN

I'm definitely slow on jumping on the bandwagon with this mascara in the beauty blogging word, especially when I've read so many great reviews about it. The thing with me is I don't like opening products and not finishing them, so I was waiting for my previous mascara to run out before I brought the Benefit They're Real mascara, but when I saw that Elle Magazine was offering a free 40g sample with this months issue, it seemed totally logically to 'try before I buy!' Elle always has a great section on beauty anyways so it seems like it was £4.00 very well spent!

I was really dubious about this mascara because my lashes are very short and horrid and quite frankly don't do what any mascara says it will do, but I have truly discovered the holy grail of mascara! I must admit £19.50 for a mascara can be considered to be pricey but I promise you it is worth every penny, I've recently been out and purchased a full sized product! There is no surprise it's the UK's number one selling mascara, it lengthens and separates my lashes perfectly and comes off with ease.
I would suggest that if you're dubious about this mascara to try and get the freebie with Elle, but they're selling out fast!

So what do you think about Benefit's They're Real mascara? Can you suggest any better mascaras?

OOTD

 Asos oversized tee
Primark leggings
New Look Jewelled sandals
Accessorize  Mari Tote
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine in Blueberry

My very basic outfit for today! As you're aware today was rather hot in London, and I had a two exam so I wanted to wear something that was comfy but not something i would overheat in. I promised myself I would start posting OOTD posts so here one is.
I practically live in leggings anyways so there is no surprise I would wear them today and my oversized asos basic top is a necessity in weather like this. I've never really been a person to wear skin tight clothes as I never feel comfortable in them, so this baggy top is just perfect. I teamed my simple tee and leggings combo with my favourite jewelled sandals from New Look to make the outfit look like I've made some attempt today. I finished it off with my trusty accessorize tote and some sunglasses I bought from a small shop when I was on holiday last year.

Anyways I'm off to exercise! Thanks for reading!

A LITTLE UPDATE

Well I have had such an amazing week, and I hope all you lovely readers have too. I thought I would post today a little update to let you know what's going on in my life. Firstly, I have a new job! I recently left my job at Waitrose because I felt like the food industry just didn't do it for me, and now I am a sales advisor in Debenhams which I am so excited about!

Secondly, I'm one week away from finishing my first year at uni! This year has gone so quick, I've meet tons of lovely people and uni is what inspired me to start blogging so I'm so grateful for everything. A lot has happened this past year and I've learnt so much but one thing I can't get my head around is I'm no longer going to be a fresher! Time truly does fly!

My last little update is regarding my hair. I know I don't blog much apart from beauty product reviews and I've decided it is time to change. With the first year of uni being almost over, I'm going to have a lot more free time, so I'm hoping to post more lifestyle posts, outfits of the days and hauls! But back to the topic... I've gone for the chop! Again! My sister is a trainee hairdresser and we got a bit bored the other day and decided to cut my hair, I'm not entirely sure if I like the length but I'm going to share it with you anyways!

This photo isn't great, but today is an unphotogenic day...you get the idea!

Anyways, I'm off shopping for new makeup brushes, so keep checking this space for reviews and my makeup brush collection!
Have a good weekend guys!

APRIL FAVOURITES

Can't believe it's May already, seems like only yesterday I was tucking into my christmas dinner! Generally, April has been a good month for me but I can't say the same for my poor bank account. I know I did a post a couple of weeks back of my favourite products at the moment, but they weren't my all time favourites for the month, but this is!

So my favourites this month are a bit random. All the products this month that I overused to the extent that I'm pretty much running out of them already (I brought majority of these products under six weeks ago!)

Nivea Anti Perspirant 48hr deodorant
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Paisley

These are two products I've relied on heavily this month.
Nivea Anti-Perspirant 48hr Deodorant
I have really sensitive skin, so 'spray' deodorant usually irritates me and I'm not a massive fan of 'roll on deodorant' but I've found this product actually worked for me! It smells really nice, doesn't irritate my skin and stops me from sweating, and lets be honest that's the most important bit. It's actually on offer in Boots at the moment for about £1.50 so I've stocked up!
Batiste Dry Shampoo in Paisley
Dry shampoo has to be the greatest thing ever invented and I personally don't think there is a brand out there of dry shampoo as good as Batiste. I use it in between washes just to make my hair look 'fresher' and I usually go for tropical scent, but I picked this bottle up purely because I liked the packaging, and I'm glad I did because it smells like strawberry laces (as in the sweets!) Long live Batiste!

MaxFactor MASTERPIECE Colour Precision Eyeshadow in Pearl Beige
Inglot Lipstick in 230

MaxFactor MASTERPIECE Colour Precision Eyeshadow in Pearl Beige
I love this product! When I was in Boots the other day, I was speaking to the woman on the MaxFactor counter about different products and how I wanted a face highlighter, and she suggested that I should use this eyeshadow. I would have never chosen this item myself, but it does the trick perfectly. It's really pigmented but subtle at the same time, so it truly helps in my attempt to look more awake in the mornings!
Inglot Lipstick in 230
I usually prefer nude lips but when I saw this shade I just had to have it! It is the most vibrant red lipstick I have ever used or owned in my life and the great thing about it is it literally lasts for hours, so its a steal at only £10! Plus it leaves my lips feeling really nourished despite being a matt finish lipstick. This is the only Inglot lipstick I own and I need more! I love so many of their products and I really can't fault this lipstick.

MUA Nail Lacquer in Lush Lilac
Essie Nail Lacquer in Rosebowl

MUA Lush Lilac
I know there has been a big hoohar lately regarding MUA lack of originality with packaging making it look rather suspiciously like Essie Nail Lacquers but it doesn't bother me. I know it's a bit unfair on Essie, but I really like their packaging anyways so for me it's a bonus. I really like MUA nail lacquers because they dry quick and look like an expensive brand when in reality they're only £1 each! What a bargain! I love this shade because it's so versatile and perfect for summer!
Essie in Rosebowl
This colour is just perfect! As you know I received this colour in Aprils glossybox and I've been in love ever since. Essie are notorious for brilliant nail lacquers and they definitely didn't let me down in this colour, it stay bright, it's long lasting and goes on with ease.

Original Source Shower Gel in Chocolate and Mint
Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing Gel
Primark Sultry Lashes

Original Source Chocolate and Mint Shower gel
Shower gel leaving me smelling like After Eight chocolate mints, need I say more? Loved this shower gel so much!
Clarins Cleansing Gel
I've mentioned this before but I really don't think I can stress to you how amazing this product is! It leaves my skins fresh and soft every time I use it, guaranteed. It has to be the best cleansing gel I have ever used and I would recommend you go buy this immediately. The bottle I'm using at the moment is smaller than the regular bottle as I got this in a set, and the original sized bottle is around £19 (I purchased it the other day!) and it is so worth that. Honestly you cannot go wrong with this product and I mean that!
Primark False eyelashes
These have to be my favourite false eyelashes and needless to say I have stocked up this month! I would say you can wear each pair about three times which is definitely value for money considering they're only a £1 per set. The glue they come with is surprisingly good, but I always like to wear  them with my own eyelash glue just to be on the safe side.

That's it for this months favourites, and hopefully next month I'll have some new exciting products to show you!
So what are your April favourites? Do you like/dislike any of these products?
